Hail to Sunrise

***BEST VIEWED with HEADPHONES ON

Here is the video that I promised though this has been a late posting because I got sick and couldn't catch up with my work.  Nonetheless, here it is with some photos I randomly grabbed from my library.  I limit it to non-wedding related photos only.  I intend to do another soundtrack which is longer and perhaps a better output than this neophyte attempt that I can use together with some of wedding photos and family portraits that I took.  I just have to find the inspiration and the right timing for coming up with a new track.  : )

With love,

Catching Up...

It has been a while since my last entry.  I have been busy with work lately as I restructure my business.  There are certain things that I need to reassess.  What are my weaknesses and strengths as a photographer?  As a businesswoman?  As an artist?  Where do I wanna be?  Do I really have a clear goal?  Are these goals being targeted or am I just hitting the wrong button?  These are just some thoughts that I have been working on for the past week.

Last night, as I went to bed, I couldn't sleep and felt I needed to get online after I have been off for days to my computer because of flu.  For some reason, I wasn't really checking my e-mail nor working on my photos as I planned.  Instead, I decided to explore my Garage Band which has been in my computer for a year and has not been opened since I got this machine.  It was actually my first time to get on to it hoping to create something out of nothing.  It wasn't as hard as I thought and I was pretty amazed how easy it is to compose a soundtrack.  With all honesty, it has been my dream to be a composer when I was small.  I used to like classical music when I was three.  I learned playing the piano at a young age and appreciate music even more.  I remember having a picture on top of a table as if I was a conductor of an orchestra while my playmates were just there looking at me.  It was actually my dad who took that photo on my 7th birthday party at home.  See how pathetic I was! Haha!

With the new technology (and a little bit of insanity in a way), I was able to somehow fulfill that dream by composing my own soundtrack.  It took me less than an hour or so to get acquainted with the program and finished my composition.  I'll share it with you together with a short presentation of my photos for better appreciation. Perhaps, in a day or two, I would be able to come up with a video using my new soundtrack entitled "Hail to Sunrise."

'Til then.... : )

Overcoming My Fear

Photo taken during our island hopping in Boracay after long days of work.  Believe it or not, I'm not really a "beach person."  In fact, I'd  rather do skydiving or race car driving than swimming. Ya...I just don't feel comfortable being on a large body of water.  I like the scenery but please don't let me ride a boat or something.  Hahaha!

While on board, I vividly remember how crazy I was just to take photos.  When we got to the island,  a friend of mine told me I don't look like someone who is really afraid of travelling on water with the way I shoot.  I told him, "I don't know either.  I just felt more comfortable seeing things behind the lens as we travel and took the chance to fire away when I feel like doing it.  I guess I found my security blanket then." :D

First Charcoal Sketch

I'm no artist compared to most people but I have this great appreciation for arts and the like.  I just thought of sharing my first charcoal sketch back in 1999.  This photo was taken by my MacBook Pro's iSight.

Phil Clevenger - Adobe Lightroom Interface Designer

I found this cool video about Phil Clevenger, the man behind the Lightroom user interface. This is about what brought him to Adobe, and what he learned from his time at MetaCreations designing ground-breaking interfaces for software like Bryce and Kai's PhotoSoap. He also gives some hints at some possible directions of the Lightroom UI, and his philosophy around the evolution of user interfaces in general.

Tainted

tainted

The spirit within feels deeply unloved,
As the frail body alone keeps standing.
Her own eyes are judging: "She'll never be loved."
Disgusted by the reflection staring,
She walked away and nowhere to be found.

12 hours sleep

I was asleep for 12 hours as a result of working late for the past week but it was worth it. I had this longest dream in my life. When I woke up, I was astounded how the story unfolds...the twists and turns--everything! It was as if I was watching a movie but seeing myself playing a part. I can't take it off my mind as I got up and started working. I don't know if it has something to do with what I am listening right now while I'm doing this design layout for an album. I'm into Hans Zimmer's recently. The theme from Armageddon serves as my "national anthem" everyday for the past two weeks. For some reason, it squeezes my creative juices and inspires me to do well. I think there is something in his music that is so beautiful that it complements every scene in a movie. It is so magnificently created that it stirs up someone's mind by just listening to it. You could imagine a thousand of events, a million of emotions and a zillion of ideas having it around. Perhaps that helped me decide to write a movie script based on what I have dreamt last night. (I apologize but I can't divulge any information about it yet.) I'm just thankful to his music for bringing inspiration to a lot of people like me.

More info about him at this site.
